Carolyn (pronouns: she/her) moved to Western North Carolina after hiking the Appalachian Trail in 1995, planning to spend 6 months. More than 25 years later, she’s still here. She’s worked in the disability community in a variety of roles since 1997, including more than 15 years with the TEACCH Autism Program. A graduate of UNC School of the Arts, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the UNCA Master of Liberal Arts program, she also has an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
Meagan Sietsema, Interim Accessibility Specialist
Meagan (pronouns she/her) is an Asheville transplant and loving it. As a Southern California native, the greenery and the rain are astonishingly refreshing. Meagan is a graduate of Gallaudet University (2016 & 2022) in Washington DC, and specialized in Deaf Studies. She is now delving into sign language linguistics, language ideology, and languaging practices.
